Petals of my Heart was the second large multi-block quilt McKenna designed after "At Home in the Woods." It celebrates all the wildflowers she loves to enjoy. True to form, McKenna's overlapping appliques across the borders help to tell a story. This design, Petals of my Heart II was a redesign of her original featuring some of her own batiks designed for Hoffman Fabrics. She also added a few new critters to the scene; the bunny, owl and mama and baby squirrels to name a few!

McKenna "discovered" the Applique Pressing Sheet which enabled her to start creating more intricate designs. Petals of My Heart was the first quilt in which she used this technique to simply layer and assemble the delicate pieces into one unit before placing on her background. It revolutionized her quilt designing! She was featured on HGTV with Alex Anderson demonstrating her simply beautiful, beautifully simple (Pine Needles tagline) technique.

Petals of my Heart is stunning and measures 56" x 51.5".
