My artistic journey started in the North American Rockies, and since the beginning, the allure of the unspoiled back country has not faded. The awe of nature is found in the majestic carvings of glaciers as well as the small critters that inhabit the valleys. Some say that art can only be explored by studying nature, and in a way, that’s what the creation of this quilt has been for me. It started when I received the first few yards of my Natural Instincts fabric line from Hoffman Fabrics. It was designed especially to capture the wonder of those intricate textures, grand landscapes and the wildlife that inhabits them. Each block seemed to journey further into the back country, going beyond boundaries and untouched by the influence of man. Near the end, as I was hand stitching the binding (one of my favorite parts of the process!) I realized the true nature of art is the journey we take creating it.
